The Torch - University High School - Tumblr becoming the new social network king

First, there was the MySpace which dominated the social network scene from 2003-2009, and then there was Facebook which toppled MySpace as the #1 social network on the internet in 2009. And now there is a new website growing at a tremendous rate called Tumblr.

Tumblr is a blog, were anyone in the world can share a photo, quote, video, and split text between people; really you can put anything out there to blog for people to see.

David Karp born July 6, 1986, the founder of this much talked about website. Karp began to work on Tumblr after leaving UrbanBaby (a website devoted to topics that concern urban mothers) as a software consultant in 2006. Tumblr was ready to launch in 2007. This website has gone viral since then, and Karp’s two man team that initially ran the site had grown to a team of 51 working on Tumblr.

Many students are discovering Tumblr and are quite impressed.

“It’s so addicting. I can stay on there for hours blogging and re-blogging about everything,” said Tumblr fan sophomore Cynthia Gutierrez.
